Ron Pierce began playing at the age of 13 listening to old blues recordings of the
'masters' like Junior Wells and Muddy Waters. At that tender age he decided to only be
influenced by the best of players from Rock, Country and Blues, so he studied Charlie
McCoy for Country, Little Walter for Blues, and Magic Dick (J Geils Band) for Rock. As
a teen, he played clubs in and around his home of Cleveland Ohio, and after 3 years in
the army, he hit the road with "The Midnite Riders", playing country, rock and blues all
across the Midwest. Eventually his travels led him south to Columbus, Georgia where
his Blues/Country style has led him to perform with Johnny Rivers, Jeff Cook (Alabama),
and many of the legendary blues men of Memphis in clubs on the legendary 'Beale
Street'. In 1998 Ron helped plan and carry out the "The Glendora Blues Harp Summit",
of which Hohner was a sponsor (http://www.deltaboogie.com/features/harpsummit/)
.
Recording on over a dozen CD's with a variety of artists from Garth Brooks' band, Soul
man JoJo Hammet, and more, Ron's current interest is playing and recording with The
Doc Holliday Band in Georgia and Alabama.
